New vacancies: Senior Postgraduate Teaching Assistants (SPGTA)

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction is recruiting for a number of Senior Postgraduate Teaching Assistants (SPGTA) for the 2020/21 academic year.

The purpose of the Senior Postgraduate Teaching Assistant roleÌýis to support teaching andÌýlearning in our modules, working with the academicÌýmodules tutors to support the delivery of teaching andÌýassessment of assignments for students taking modules in the IRDR.

Specific duties are listed for the separate modules andÌýroles, which can be found in the job specification (see link below) and teaching assistantsÌýwill be given training in support ofÌýtheir roles.

PGTAs may be expected to be able to commit be present on the Bloomsbury campus during the terms for which teaching is allocated and during the examination period as required (please check individual module duties and responsibilities regarding this).

IRDR0002 – Fundamentals of Emergency and Crisis Planning. Tutor: David Alexander

IRDR0004 – Data Analysis and Interpretation. Tutor:ÌýPatty Kostkova

IRDR005 Practice and Appraisal of Research. SW England Field Trip. Tutor: Peter SammondsÌý

IRDR0006 Conflict, Humanitarianism and Disaster Risk Reduction. Tutor: Ilan Kelman

IRDR0007 – Space Weather and Technological Failures. Tutor: Peter SammondsÌý

RDR0015 – Integrating Science into Risk and DisasterÌýReduction. Tutor: Joanna Faure WalkerÌý

IRDR0016 – Gender, Conflict and Disaster. Tutor:ÌýPunam YadavÌý

If any of these roles appeal to you and you think you meet the person specification, please email the relevant Module Tutor confirming the following:

  1. EducatedÌýto Masters degree level (or having equivalent experience), in a field relatedÌýto the subjectÌýmatter being taught/ assessed.
  2. Working towards a relevant postgraduate degree (PhD)
  3. Effective working knowledge of any software specified inÌýthe task descriptions
  4. Specialist skills and knowledge appropriate to the courseÌýtaught
