Conflict and migration

Investigating violence, conflicts and their consequences, the forces behind displacement, (im)mobility and wider human rights and humanitarian concerns.

We investigate causes of conflict and violence at various scales and levels, ranging from intrahousehold to international, and subsequent consequences including human rights, law, displacement, trapped and immobile populations, refugee experiences, trafficking, genocide, humanitarian action, disaster diplomacy, conflict-related sexual violence, and women’s reproductive health and peace building. We look at forces behind migration and displacement that includes climate change, and track lived experiences. Our work has been used as evidence in UK parliament and international governments, in international courts of justice, informed academic discourse on human rights, violence and intersectionality, and peace building.
