In this workshop, we will cover typical routes into the humanitarian sector, the type of experience that is valued by international NGOs, an overview of recruitment processes and mechanisms for career progression such as humanitarian rosters, as well as tailored networking strategies to boost your chances of successfully breaking into the sector.
By the end of this hands-on, interactive session, participants will have:
-gained insight into the primary routes into the humanitarian sector
-gained exposure to international NGO recruitment processes and mechanisms
-discussed and analysed the types of relevant experience for a humanitarian career
-had the chance to devise and practice targeted networking strategies

About the Speaker
Katie Bisaro
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Careers Consultant at University College London
Prior to joining Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø, Katie worked as a Humanitarian Capacity Building Programme Manager for Save the Children, and co-chaired the Capacity Building Task Force for the UN Child Protection Working Group from 2011-2013. Alongside working with humanitarian employers in her current role at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø, Katie has directly recruited to entry and mid-level humanitarian advisory roles for Save the Children and partner INGOs, reviewing over 1000 CVs, conducting over 200 interviews, and managing multi-agency assessment centres.Â
