3rd March: Fertility Roundtable Discussion: Do you want kids in the future?

The average age of a woman at the birth of her first child is increasing globally and is over 30 in many countries. But female fertility declines with age, significantly so after age 35.
So what should women know if they are planning to have kids in the future?

9th March: Play: Shades of our Lives by Black Women Let Loose

Shades of our Lives
Those who attended were privilege to watch an inspiring and powerfulÌýproduction from the cast of Black Women Let Loose (BWLL), a theatre company based in Bristol. Their play entitledÌý‘Shades of our Lives’, highlighted the experiences of women of African and Caribbean descents through theatre, with aÌýcombination of spoken word, dance and music.

Lacara Barnes-Rowe, from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍøÌýEquality, Diversity & Inclusion teamÌýchaired a Q&A session following the play with BWLL. This was anÌýinformal way of finding out more about the production, the actor's process and some issues from the show such as identity, belonging, racism and black women's voices.ÌýThey tackled interesting questions aboutÌýhow the show came about,Ìýexploring some of the themes raisedÌýand the idea of black women telling their own narratives and why this was important for them to do this.

10th March: Lunchtime Session: Call the midwife! Call the nurse! An international celebration

Call the midwife
The World Health Organisation has declared 2020 the first International yearof the Nurse and the Midwife, and it also marks the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. Presentations from midwives, nurses and students at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍøH – from research to clinical practice - will show how the challenges facing Midwifery and Nursing have changed over the last century, and how their work continues to impact the lives of women around the world.
