NB. The following amendments to motion 5 have been accepted by the proposer of the motion, and in the interests of time will therefore be added to the substantive motion without a separate vote.

Amendment 1 to motion 5听

Add to the beginning of the "believes" section, and renumber accordingly:

  1. The root cause of the conflict is the ongoing illegal military occupation and settlement expansion on Palestinian territories and the violation of the rights of the Palestinian people by the Israeli state. Therefore, there can be no lasting or just peace under the ongoing conditions of the Israeli siege of Gaza, or of Israeli occupation, colonisation, and apartheid across Palestine. These are conditions which Palestinians have a right to resist.听

Amendment 2 to motion 5

add motion 6's "resolves" 3 to motion 5 as well

To call for an immediate end to UK military support for Israel, and for an arms embargo.听

Amendment 3 to motion 5

Amend "resolves" 7 of motion 5 as (added text in bold):

To resist and protest attempts by the government and other institutions to restrict the right to free expression and protest, and support staff facing clampdowns on their free speech and/or academic freedom (within the law) on this issue and reject all dehumanising language directed at any group.

NB. If motion 5 falls, then the following amendment will be debated with respect to motion 6.

Amendment 4 to motion 6听

Add to a new 鈥渂elieves鈥 section:

**This amendment will be proposed and included in the debate.
