discuss a potential donation or offer of financial support I have received
This is for anyone who receives an enquiry or offer of a donation to support their faculty/department/programmes.ÌýÌý
- 1. Determine the level of financial support available where possible
-
Where possible please determine the potential size of donation or type of support that the donor is interested in e.g. scholarship, prize, award. Any information available is helpful at this early stage.ÌýÌý
Departments/faculties should also assess if a prospect has wider philanthropic potential. If so, please contact Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Advancement who can advise on how to maximise donations and nurture the potential for future giving
- 2. Assess any potential risks associated with the potential donation and with the donor’s reputation
-
If the potential donation is under £100,000 the department is responsible for assessing any potential risks associated with the donation and with the donor’s reputation and any consequential harm this may cause to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø’s reputation.ÌýÌý
If risks are identified, the potential donor will be referred to the Gift Acceptance Committee for review via Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Advancement.ÌýÌý
Donations over £100,000 will require a full due diligence check undertaken by Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Advancement.ÌýÌý
