Present Status: PhD Candidate听

Working title of thesis:听Mothers and Maidens: Lyrical Depictions of Women in Finnish Heavy Metal Music Lyrics听

搁别蝉别补谤肠丑:听In my PhD thesis, I ask: 鈥楬ow are women, and to some extent, other genders, conceptualised and represented in Finnish heavy metal music lyrics?鈥. In another chapter, based on my original PhD thesis topic, which I had to change because of my heart failure from my chemotherapy treatment, I ask the same question, except in the context of the Finnish heavy metal music scene, by utilising interviews with Finnish women and women living in Finland. However, my PhD thesis focuses mainly on Finnish heavy metal music lyrics.
听听听 听My research interests outside of my PhD thesis include feminist approaches to narratives in texts. My publications discuss a variety of topics, ranging from toxic masculinity in duelling, to childbirth and parenting in horror texts, to how feminine power won the Game of Thrones.
