Sergei Kachkin will talk about his聽experience of being an independent filmmaker working in Russia, about his films聽On the Way Home聽(Po doroge domoi,聽2011) and聽聽(Perm麓-36. Otrazhenie,聽2016), and about his initiative of leading DOKer, an independent International Documentary Film Festival.

About the Speaker

Sergei Kachkin

Independent Filmmaker and organiser of the DOKer film festival

Sergei Kachkin was born in 1973 and grew up in the city of Perm. He graduated from Perm Polytechnical University and then聽several years later graduated from Marina Razbezhkina鈥檚 Film School. Since 2006 he has worked as a聽producer, director and cameraman. In 2008 he participated in the programme 芦Cultural Leaders,聽Filmmakers禄 in the USA. In the following years he has taken聽part in many international seminars led by聽filmmakers Alexander Sokurov (Russia), Rafi Pitts (France); the film critic Tue Steen M眉ller (Denmark); the聽producer Iikka Vehkalahti (Finland); 2011-2015 Head of Project Department, Moscow Co-Production Forum聽of the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF). In 2012 he organised an educational seminar 鈥淔lahertiana聽ADA Workshop鈥. In May of the same year the international premiere of his film聽On the Way Home聽(2011)聽took聽place at the Krakow Film Festival. Subsequently, the film was screened at various festivals and on television聽channels throughout the world. Since 2015 he has been an organizer of the聽. In 2016聽the premiere of his film聽Perm-36. Reflexion聽(2016)聽took place at the central Moscow cinema 鈥淥ctober鈥, after聽which it was shown at film festivals, released nationally and shown at universities in Russia,聽Europe, the聽USA and on TV
