The Portfolio Development: Film course is recommended for those who would like to submit portfolios to one of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Media BA programmes or other film-related courses.
Course content and structure
The course will take place between 15 and 19 July 2024 and will include face-to-face classes taking place at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø East.
The structure of the course is as follows:
Day 1: Filmmaking essentialsÂ

Day 2: Understanding your unique voiceÂ
- Self-assessment: identifying your filmmaking style and strengths.Â
- Defining your voice: what do you want to tell?Â
Day 3: Crafting your filmmaker statementÂ
- Articulating your filmmaking philosophy and vision.Â
- Writing an impactful filmmaker statement.Â
- Peer review and feedback session on filmmaker statements.Â
Day 4: Selecting and presenting your workÂ
- Curating your best work: short film selection and editing.Â
- Creating a cohesive portfolio structure.Â
- Practical exercise: editing your showreel.
Day 5: Feedback and Fine-TuningÂ
- Peer and Instructor feedback on portfolios.Â
- Refining your portfolio based on feedback.Â
- Final portfolio presentation strategies.Â
