The purpose of theÌýworkshopÌýis to facilitate networking among Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø colleaguesÌý(post-doctoral researchers and above) from across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍøÌýwho are involved in sociological research, and to get a better understanding ofÌýthe breadth ofÌýsociology undertakenÌýat Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø.ÌýWeÌýaimÌýto generate a discussion aboutÌýour respective research, which may spin off to collaborations,Ìýcross-Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø study clusters, Grand Challenges submissions, later events and so on.ÌýÌý


To facilitate the workshop

  • We ask participants to submitÌý2-3 sentences about theirÌýsociologicalÌýresearch or scholarly expertise, and up to 4 key words. These may be theoretical,Ìýmethodological,or your substantive areas of expertise

  • Colleagues willÌýthen be grouped according to their research specialisms with discussions facilitated by USN coordinating group members.The smaller groups are intended to facilitate more in-depth discussions

  • Depending on numbers, thereÌýmay be the opportunity to join more than one discussion group.ÌýIn the larger group,we will consider across group synergies, ideas for future events and collaborations, and whether there is an emerging or possible way of defining ‘Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø sociology’
