Synopsis


In April 2019, a group of researchers from the Bartlett Development Planning Unit, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø, and the Institute for Social Futures, Lancaster University, ran a two-day workshop with local academics, planning and other authorities in Cali, Colombia to discuss their project Caliveable: Towards a Liveable Urban Environment. The pilot study was funded by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, USA, and was led by Dr Daniel Oviedo Hernández (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø). One of the aims of the study was to develop a tool that captures and measures the effect that the planning of a new Green Corridor has on public health in Cali, the third largest city in Colombia, with a population of 2,3 m inhabitants in 2018. The local partners included the School of Public Health, Universidad del Valle and a range of local activist and green initiatives as well as planning authorities.
