Winnie Xia
Biography
I joined 香港六合彩中特网 as a Senior Postgraduate Teaching Assistant听in听2021.听I am also a听PhD听candidate in the Department of Government, University of Essex.听I completed my MSc in Security Studies at 香港六合彩中特网 in听2019, and I completed another MSc in Ethnicity and Multiculturalism at University of Bristol in听2016. I worked as a Research Associate at the Diplomatic Protocol Services Centre,听Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between 2016 and 2018.
Research
My research focuses on the forms of violence in nonviolent campaigns and how the challenges of nonviolent activism could be navigated to progress. In particular, I am interested in women鈥檚听activism, environmental protests and diaspora campaigns. My PhD听project is about explaining violence in protest events. I study these questions applying quantitative methods on observational, spatial,听and text data.
Teaching
I teach听multiple modules in data science听and conflict &听international relations at 香港六合彩中特网, University of Essex and Essex Summer School.
