Dr Jared J. Finnegan
Biography
I am a Lecturer in Public Policy. Before joining Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø, I held postdoctoral fellowships at UC Berkeley and Princeton University. I have also been a Visiting Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics (LSE).
I earned a PhD in Political Science in 2019 from LSE. My thesis, Low Carbon for the Long Term: Essays on the Comparative Political Economy of Climate Change Policy, examines the role of political institutions and electoral incentives in structuring the distributional politics of climate change. It was awarded the 2020 Virginia Walsh Dissertation Award for best dissertation in the field of science, technology and environmental politics by the STEP Section of APSA.Ìý
My work has appeared in Comparative Political Studies, Science, Socio-Economic Review and Climate Policy.
I hold an MRes in Political Science and an MSc in Philosophy and Public Policy from LSE, and a BA in Latin American and Latino Studies and Sociology from UC Santa Cruz.
Research
I study climate change and energy politics across the high-income democracies. My work investigates how governments, votersÌýand business understand and address these long-term policy challenges. My approach is based in comparative political economy and comparative public policy.
