The researchers are looking for all Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø students to participate – you can be any age, at any point in your study (undergraduate or postgraduate), and from any discipline. You will need to be MRI-compatible (which means you should have no ferromagnetic objects in your body), and either i) have no history of mental health disorders, or ii) have experienced persistent anxiety over the past 6 months. Ìý

What will it involve?
There will first be an initial screening session to determine your eligibility for the study, after which you may be invited for the two testing sessions. These will be around 2.5 hours each, and involve MRI scanning and behavioural tasks (some paired with electrical shocks). In between we will give you a two to three week course of either escitalopram or placebo to take daily. You will be reimbursed £50 for your participation, and will contribute to much needed research on the mechanisms behind anxiety disorders.

What else do I need to know?
The study will take place at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, 17-19 Queens Square. All data which can be pseuodonymised with regards to the purposes of the study will be, and we will endeavour to minimise the processing of personal data wherever possible.
