The series, launching on Thursday 12 October, explores how science will influence and change our lives in the future and will feature guests from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø.ÌýThe is available to download from the BBC website now.

The first and second episodes of the series investigate the development of brain-machine interfaces and where those experimental devices might take us in the future.Ìý

Professor Cathy Price (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute of Neurology) and Professor Peter Dayan (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit) join Dr Cosgrave and co-presenter Britt Wray, to discuss the idea of "The Wizard's Hat" which aims to create seamless communication between human brains and computers.

Several inventors and scientists are exploring this technology in the hope that in the future, we will be able to control machinery with our minds and transmit information directly to someone else's brain - from factual ideas to sensory inputs.

The presenters explore the first three layers of evolution in our brains and experience the cutting-edge technology that is forging interfaces between brains and machinery - something seen by Elon Musk as the fourth "brain layer" in the evolutionary process of our brains.

A new podcast episode will be released each fortnight and subsequent episodes will feature Dr Ilan Kelman (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute for Risk & Disaster Reduction and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute for Global Health) and Dr Leonie Tanczer (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø STEaPP).

Dr Cosgrave is a lecturer in Urban Innovation in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's Department of Science, Technology, Engineering & Public Policy (STEaPP) and Deputy Director of STEaPP's City Leadership Laboratory in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Engineering.
