Panel discussion event: 'That Godless institution in Gower Street'

11 November 2011

A secular approach is relied upon at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø to deliver pluralism, equality and tolerance.

Quad But how much does Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's version of secularism really accommodate difference? Are non-religious perspectives privileged at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø? And if so, is this sustainable in an increasingly globalised university?

Staff are invited to this panel discussion on Tuesday 22 November from 5.30pm -7pm in Roberts Room 421, 4th Floor, Roberts Building. It will explore both historical and contemporary understandings of secularism at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø and will invite the audience to join in this intellectual and moral dialogue. Chaired by Professor Anthony Finklestein, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's Equality Champion for Race, Religion and Belief, this event is being held to coincide with national Interfaith Week.

To confirm your attendance, please email Sonal Bharadva, in the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Equalities and Diversity team.Ìý
