Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍøU Summer Ball 2011
15 June 2011
Earlier this month, nearly 2,000 students filled the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Quad for a 1950s-themed party to round off the year at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø.
In keeping with the theme, there was live music from a Buddy Holly tribute band, and the special guests included Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills and actor David Hasselhoff. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍøU Jazz Society provided the entertainment, along with entertainers, funfair rides and a casino.
Asa Bennet (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Greek and Latin) who attended the ball, explained: "It was superb. I was wearing a 1950s costume and kept getting party-goers mistake me for a Buddy Holly impersonator. As for the appearance from David 'The Hoff' Hasselhoff - it was a surprise late into the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍøU Summer Ball, when anything may happen. It was a lot of fun when he did pop by!"
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍøU Events Manager, Stuart Janes, said, "It was never going to be easy to top last year's Prohibition Ball, but this was just fantastic. Who knows what will happen next year?"
