Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's Academic & International Vice Provost Professor Michael Worton has responded to an article published in The Guardian newspaper that misrepresented the university's position with regards to giving credit for non-academic skills.

Professor Worton said: "Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø is not in a similar position to the Universities of Leicester and Durham as was implied. We are not looking at giving academic credit for workplace skills in undergraduate degrees, but instead consideringÌýincluding these skills (as well as leadership of clubs and societies,Ìývolunteering etc) within the HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Record),Ìýwhich is intended to provide more detailed information about a student'sÌýlearning and achievement beyond the traditional degree classificationÌýsystem.Ìý

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø degrees are awarded exclusively on academic merit."
