Christchurch earthquake seminar on 2 March 2011

In response to the Christchurch earthquake, a seminar 'Understanding Earthquakes' will be held on Wednesday 2 March, 5-6pm in the Wilkins Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre.

A panel of experts from across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø and Imperial will discuss the current knowledge of earthquake activity including probabilistic seismic hazard, damage estimation and reconstruction.Ìý

The speakers will be:

  • Damian Grant (EPICentre, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering)
  • Anna Mason (EngD Student in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering)
  • Peter Stafford (Civil Engineering, Imperial)
  • Gerald Roberts (Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Birkbeck, part of the Joint Research School for Earth Sciences, Birkbeck/Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø).

Entry is by donation with all proceeds going to the British Red Cross NZ Earthquake Appeal. A reception after the seminar has been sponsored by .
