New Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Fellows of the Royal Society

  • Five Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø academics today join the ranks of the Fellows of the Royal Society, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to society.

    The new Fellows from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø are:

    • Michael Batty, Director of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Bartlett Professor of Planning
    • John Hardy, Professor of Neuroscience (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute of Neurology)
    • Peter Isaacson, Professor in the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Research Department of Pathology
    • Jonathan Tennyson, Massey Professor of Physics (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Physics & Astronomy), and
    • John Wood, Professor of Molecular Neurobiology (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Science).

    As Fellows of the UK's national academy of science, these leaders in the fields of science, engineering and medicine join the likes of Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin and Stephen Hawking.

    The new Fellows are at the cutting edge of science worldwide. Their achievements represent the vast contribution science makes to society. They join an outstanding group of over 1,400 Fellows and Foreign Members of the Royal Society, and all rank among the international leaders in their field.

    Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø President and Provost Professor Malcolm Grant said: "The whole Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø community takes great pride in seeing the achievements of its outstanding scientists reflected in these elections to the Fellowship of the Royal Society."
