Film screening: 'The Island of Lost Souls'

11 June 2009

All are welcome to attend a free screening of 'The Island of Lost Souls' on 16 June at 6:30pm in the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Grant Museum of Zoology, Darwin Building on Malet Place.

This is the original 1933 adaptation of HG Wells' classic Island of Dr Moreau, and depicts a horrifying and fantastical tale of human/animal experimentation, rebellion and adventure.

An obsessive and reclusive scientist establishes himself as the tyrant ruler of a population of mutated beasts - the products of his own evolutionary experiments.
Following a nearby shipwreck, outsiders arrive on the island in time to see the fiends rise up against their master.

Dr Joe Cain, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Historian of Science, will introduce the film, and afterwards a free glass of wine will be served during a private view of the museum. The film is suitable for adults. There is no need to book places.
