Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Centre for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine launch

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Centre for Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine will be officially launched on Friday 24 April, 10.

30am - 3.30pm in the J Z Young Lecture Theatre, Anatomy Building, Gower Street.

  • Professor Martin Birchall, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's first Professor of Laryngology, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Ear Institute; and winner of Morgan Stanley/ Daily Telegraph 2008 Great Britons (Scientific and Innovation category)
  • Professor Jeremy Brockes, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Department of Structural and Molecular Biology, awarded the 2008 American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Newcomb Cleveland Prize to the outstanding publication in Science uncovering a new molecular cue that promotes limb regeneration in newts
  • Professor Pete Coffey, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute of Ophthalmology and Director, London Project to Cure Blindness
  • Dr Paul Riley, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Institute of Child Health; recipient of the 2008 Outstanding Achievement Award given by the European Society of Cardiology Council on Basic Cardiovascular Science.

The keynote speaker will be Dr Giulio Cossu, Fondazione San Raffaele del Monte Tabor, Milano (an expert in transplantation of adult stem cells in Duchenne muscular dystrophy).

The invited speaker will be Professor Fiona Watt, President, International Society for Stem Cell Research, Cancer Research UK, Cambridge Research Institute.
