Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's Centre for Security and Crime Science (CSCS), in association with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Grand Challenges, is holding a town meeting on 'security and crime' to be held in the JZ Young Theatre, Anatomy Building, Gower Street on 21 May, from 1.30pm to 4pm.

The department's recent experience in putting major cross-departmental bids together at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø has revealed that there are many researchers who can contribute to the security and crime agenda. Unexpected synergies are emerging all the time - for example, mathematical modelling of crime is producing some useful and very practical results. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø CSCS wants to draw on the wealth of researchers across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø - from engineers, anthropologists, economists and historians, to criminologists, philosophers, health researchers and legal scholars.

There are two main aims for the meeting:

1. To understand the Research Councils UK initiative on 'Global Threats to Security'

2. To get to know other researchers across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø departments doing work on issues that have (or may potentially have) a crime/security dimension.

The meeting will be chaired by Vice-Provost Research, David Price, and will feature speakers sharing their experience from around Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø, as well as plenty of audience participation. Snacks/ tea/coffee will be served.

Participation is limited to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø members. To book your place please email Kati Carter. To find out more follow the link at the top of this item.
