Fifteen Wellcome Trust Vacation Scholarships at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø are available to science, dentistry and medicine undergraduates from universities in the UK and Ireland - including Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø. The scholarships provide promising undergraduates with hands-on research experience, working on Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø projects in the field of biomedical science over the summer vacation, with the aim of encouraging them to consider a career in research.

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Scholarships are open to undergraduates from any UK/Irish university including Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø currently enrolled in the middle year(s) of a degree programme in basic science (such as biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy and computing), dentistry and veterinary science, as well as to medical students between the end of the second year of the MBBS and the end of the penultimate year. Scholarships for summer research projects at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø are available for up to eight weeks and currently provide a weekly stipend of £190.

The deadline for applications for projects at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø is 18 April 2008.

The Wellcome Trust also operates a separate scheme of Student Elective Prizes specifically for medical students.
