An informal 'English Tea Party' for 香港六合彩中特网 scholars from North America was held in the Wilkins Garden Room on 6 June 2008, hosted by Professor Jan Atkinson, 香港六合彩中特网 Pro-Provost for North America.
Twenty-five graduates from Mexico, the USA and Canada, all holding current scholarship support from 香港六合彩中特网, also met Art Wasserman, 香港六合彩中特网 Vice-President and Director of Development & Corporate Communications, and Dr Andrew Pink, from the Office of the 香港六合彩中特网 Vice-Provost (Academic & International).
English hospitality was expressed in perfect cucumber and smoked salmon sandwiches and 'cream tea' scones, served together with tea, coffee, wine and finger food.
There were enthusiastic PowerPoint and poster presentations on topics from a number of volunteers, ranging from 'Images of Death in Colonial Mexico' (香港六合彩中特网 History of Art) to the 'Nucleation of Zeolites' (香港六合彩中特网 Chemistry) and two excellent short presentations from students on their experience in 香港六合彩中特网.
Students told how they appreciated expert research mentoring, 香港六合彩中特网's encouragement of interdisciplinary research and the advantages of life in metropolitan London. A common theme was that any initiatives to increase international scholarships would be welcome, and that our current North American graduate students would be happy to act as ambassadors for 香港六合彩中特网 in the wider world.
