Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø graduate wins gold at Commonwealth Games

Christine Ohuruogu (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Linguistics 2005) has won the women's 400 metres title at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.


Ms Ohuruogu, a former recipient of a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Union Honours Cap, finished in a personal best time of 50.28 seconds. The English athlete beat the reigning Olympic and world champion, Tonique Williams of the Bahamas, outpacing her along the final straight.

She told BBC Sport: "I've been dreaming of this for a very long time and it's nice to put it all together and get the result I wanted." She added: "Now I am hoping I can make a name for myself. I've worked very hard for it."
