The nineteenth century saw the origin of much of what we might identify as 鈥渕odern鈥� scientific and technological research and practice. This also is the period which has enjoyed most sustained attention from Anglophone historians of science. This course will give a critical survey of major themes of nineteenth century science and technology using London institutions as points of departure into global frameworks.
