This module is for students who have little or no prior knowledge of the target language and who wish to attain a level of competence which will allow them to communicate effectively in a many ordinary situations. Students will also be introduced to the reading of simple texts drawn from a variety of sources. The module provides a solid foundation knowledge of grammar and a broad general vocabulary as well as an introduction to aspects of the culture of the region of the target language.
