This module focuses on debates concerning how to support quality, equality and diversity with regard to learning and teaching in the context of huge injustices and marked global inequalities. It looks at the aspiration of education for all -as outlined in national Constitutions and international declarations - the Jomtien Declaration (1990), the Dakar Framework for Action (2000), the World Education Forum Incheon Declaration and 2030 Framework for Action (2015) and the Transforming Education Summit (2022). It considers the approaches to global governance that have attempted to deliver on these policy frameworks. Education for all has proved difficult to realise, particularly for vulnerable, dis-enfranchised, subordinated or excluded groups, often subject to contexts of violence and conflict. The module will look at issues of curriculum, pedagogy, education systems, teachers, approaches to assessment, and the challenge of education and climate justice.
