Exploring Educational and Social Policy – module descriptor
In this module we explore and analyse major influences of policy on educational practices. Using critical theory and exploring fascinating examples from a range of international contexts, the module is organised around five main themes:Ìý
- how policy is made, implemented and enacted;
- the influences of globalisation on education;
- economic development, rights and nation-building aims in educational policy;
- educational organisations and traditional and progressive approaches to learning;
- social justice and policy evaluation.
For the assignment, students either analyse a policy of their choice, or develop an approach to evaluating a policy.ÌýBoth options develop their knowledge and skills as reflective thinkers and educational leaders.
