Description

This module will enable students to develop their skills in visual and material examination of artworks. The course will focus on contemporary sculpture, installation and media artworks. In term 1, students will explore condition checking of media works, by analysing metadata, or using QC Tools, among other methods. In term 2, students will focus on sculpture and installation artworks, learning various methods of examination and analysis such as visual examination, microscopy, non-invasive scientific techniques (FTIR, Ramen and XRF, among others) and sampling (cross sections, SEM, among others).Ìý By the end of the course, students will be able to undertake independent research on the condition of contemporary artworks and objects.ÌýÌýÌý
