Description: Development of sensory, motor and cognitive neural systems
This module presents the normal and potentially abnormal development of neural systems sub serving sensory, motor, cognitive and social functions. The normal neuroanatomical and functional development of each system and the integration between systems is described.
The content of this module is delivered in accordance with the British Psychological Society 2019 Clinical Neuropsychology Standards for Accreditation (Paediatric Programmes).

After taking this module, you will be able to:
- Understand typical sensory, motor, cognitive and social development.
- Be able to explain normal functional and neuroanatomical development of each sensory, motor, cognitive and social neural system and the integration between systems.
- Know the major theories of cognitive development.

This is a core module for the MSc/PG Diploma in Clinical/Applied Paediatric Neuropsychology.

Teaching and Learning Methods
Teaching is delivered through live face-to-face, online and pre-recorded lectures, alongside learning through readings and tutorials, discussion, and seminar sessions.

Assessment
You will be assessed by an in-person timed (90 minute) unseen exam.Ìý The format of questions includes multiple-choice, matching the correct answer from a list of options, deciding whether statements are true/false, and short answer (e.g., completing a statement using one or words or answering a more open-ended question with a short paragraph).
