Description
This module provides students with an understanding of the key issues in the psychology of education. We discuss the behavioural and neurobiological evidence from psychological and neuroscientific research and apply this understanding to key social and cognitive aspects of learning. The importance of self-regulation, metacognition, and play and intelligence is examined; along with the recent research into gene-environment interaction and how it can influence learning outcomes. We investigate the neurocognitive basis of attention, memory, and language in typical and atypical populations and the vital roles these constructs play in education.
