Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Medical School has been recognised for its commitment to gender equality by achieving a Silver Award as part of the Athena SWAN Charter.
Awarded byÌýAdvance HE, a membership scheme promoting excellence in higher education, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Medical School recently received Silver Award status as part of the Athena SWAN Charter.ÌýÌý
Ìýis a framework which is used across the globe to support and transform gender equality within higher education (HE) and research. Established in 2005 to encourage and recognise the commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM), the Charter is now being used across the globe to address gender equality more broadly, and not just barriers to progression that affect women.

The Athena Swan assessment panelÌýoutlined specific areas of excellent practice in the Medical School including: Inclusion of Schwartz rounds on EDI related topics in the MBBS programme; identification and support for staff who had not been promoted in the past three years; Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍøMS’ own leadership programme - Estelle Wolfson Emerging Women Leaders course for supporting female doctors.
