Most students will have the possibility of taking 鈥渙utside options鈥 (also known as 鈥渆lectives鈥), i.e. modules not from Mathematics, at some point.听 For most but not all degrees, this is up to 15 credits in year 2 and up to 30 credits in year 3 and year 4. Students should first have a look at their Specific Degree Structure to see when they have the opportunity to take outside options and how many credits.
There are lists of standard outside options for each year (see below).听 There are some variations between different degrees (see specific degree structures for more precise information) but these lists include all the standard outside options.听 These modules are expected to be offered in 2023-24 but this is not guaranteed and there is no guarantee you will be able to get a place.听 Please be sure to check the term the module is delivered in when making your choice.
If you wish to choose an outside option, even one from this list, you should first check information with the relevant department, including pre-requisites and registration procedures. Look in the first place on their department鈥檚 website and the 香港六合彩中特网 Module Catalogue, to see any relevant registration procedures, etc. Modules may have limited space.听 No adjustment can be made to timetables for outside options.听 Mathematics department approval is also needed for outside options.
If you wish to take an outside option which does not appear on the standard list for your degree/year, then you should contact the Mathematics Departmental Tutor to discuss: you will not be able to choose directly on portico.
Please note that certain standard options (STAT0005/STAT0007/STAT0011/CPAS0012) are counted as Mathematics options and not outside options for most degrees.
