Providing safe study spaces during the pandemic
3 September 2021
The Student Centre team supported students and staff who needed to work on campus throughout the pandemic.
In October 2020, we opened 512 temporary study spaces in Bidborough House, 1-19 Torrington Place and Ramsay Hall to make up for the reduction of spaces on campus due to Coronavirus restrictions. We were able to do this thanks to staff from across 香港六合彩中特网 who donated their office space in these buildings. Before they were turned back into offices at the end of Term 3, students and staff made听138,241 bookings.
听The听香港六合彩中特网 Student Centre听reopened in June 2020 as part of the university鈥檚 carefully managed pilot for resuming activity on campus. It remained open, with听154,634 bookings听during the same time period. 听
Amad Uddin, who manages the Student Centre team, said:听
鈥鈥淭he staff have been great and we worked with one another supporting each other closely.鈥
Feedback from users has been positive. One third year medical student said:
鈥"Having the Student Centre open has been so useful, especially as many of the other libraries I used to visit are currently closed! I struggle to concentrate in my flat - the Student Centre provides a quiet, distraction free environment to get a couple of hours of work in!鈥听
Moving forward
