Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Bibliometrics Town Hall

14 November 2018

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø has been developing a set of principles on the responsible use of bibliometrics and other ways to measure research.

Reading room in the Science Library

This builds on Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's signing of the in 2015; the inclusion of responsible evaluation practices in the 2017 Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Academic Careers Framework; and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's ongoing commitment to Open Science.

We are holding a town hall meeting to present the proposed principles, discuss the issues surrounding the use of quantitative research metrics, and gather feedback from the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø research community.

The session will be on Tuesday 4th December, at 6pm in the JZ Young Lecture Theatre. It will involve short talks to give an overview of the principles and some background to the use of responsible metrics, followed by a panel discussion and public questions. All Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø staff are invited to attend.

The meeting will be followed by a public survey on the use of metrics and the proposed principles, to gather additional feedback from those unable to attend. Again, this will be open to all Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø staff.
