The Week@Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø is Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's weekly all staff newsletter. The Week@Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø aims to keep staff informed of key information including:

  • Internal announcements
  • Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø in the media
  • Events
  • Training opportunities
  • Research and volunteering opportunities

Items are submitted from across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø and are of relevance and benefit to the majority of staff.

The Week@Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø is managed by the Internal Communications Manager in the Communications and Marketing Office. If you are interested in submitting a story to be featured, please get in touch.

Provost's Newsletter 2006-2013

Malcolm Grant, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø President and Provost 2006-2013, wrote:

"I've enjoyed writing the Provost's Newsletter. It started in February 2006, and I introduced it by saying:

“'Ever since becoming Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø's Provost two and half years ago I have worried about the problems of communication within such a complex and busy organisation as Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø. It's a common issue. People want to know what's going on, but not to have to wade through formal documents, new policies, or worst of all the minutes of other people's meetings.… In extremis, my thoughts have occasionally strayed towards putting out a regular Provost's email newsletter, but I quickly invented powerful and compelling reasons for myself why this wouldn't work, all them reinforced by my natural indolence.… It won't be a comprehensive news-sheet; nor an uplifting PR briefing; nor even a list of commands from the Provost's bunker. It will be more an idiosyncratic collection of musings about things that are happening or forthcoming at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø, and events in the world outside Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø which look likely to affect us.'

It started as a somewhat irregular publication, but quickly settled into a Monday evening edition, defaulting to Tuesday on occasion when the technology failed or I fell asleep before completing it. It went initially only to staff, but more recently to all students as well. From the various responses I've had every week, it has also clearly been recirculated to a much wider community.

It is of course a transient artefact, and undeserving of preservation in this archive, but I am grateful to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Library Services and its Director, Paul Ayris, for making this possible."
