MP for Appleby 1754-56, and shown among a group of investors in annuities secured on the Masemure estate of Arthur Forrest (q.v.) in 1768. His widow Philadelphia Lee (q.v.) and his executor Sir William Lee of Hartwell bart. (q.v.) were parties to a deed concerning the equity of redemption of an estate on St Vincent, possibly suggesting that William Lee of Totteridge Park had been a creditor of this estate, which belonged to William Fitzhugh. The will of William Lee of Totteridge Park, under which he left substantial property including £10,000 to each of his four daughters and an annuity of £300 p.a. to his wife Philadelphia over and above the £900 p.a. to which she was entitled under their marriage settlement, makes no reference to either the annuity or to any loan secured on 'slave-property'.
