John Townson of Grays Inn

Biography

John Townson of London, London merchant and MP, co-financed the development of the Belleaire estate of James Mackie (q.v.) in exchange for a half-interest in the estate. He had been a Director of the East India Co.

  1. Will of John Townson of Grays Inn proved 18/03/1797. He left in trust an annuity of 拢500 p.a. to Mrs Sarah Belcher (which in two codicils he tried to clarify as in fact 拢250 p.a.), together with his leasehold house at 18 Charlotte Street Bedford Square, and his residuary estate to John Stuart of Hampstead (q.v.).
