Biography

Thomas Hope Edlyne, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Edlyne, born 06/12/1730 and baptised in Kingston, 28/12/1730. Owner of Hampton Court estate in St Thomas-in-the-East in 1762 (his brother-in-law Walrond Fearon filed the Accounts Produce as trustee).

Elizabeth, daughter of Elizabeth Rivers "a free mulatto woman" by Thomas Hope Edlyne, aged about 7 years, baptised in Kingston 19/03/1761.

Thomas Hop. Edlyne of St Thomas-in-the-East, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1773. Slave-ownership at probate: 125 of whom 66 were listed as male and 59 as female. 15 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: 拢9915.75 Jamaican currency of which 拢9140.75 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included 拢0 currency cash, 拢0 currency debts and 拢93.75 currency plate.
