Biography

Resident slave-owner on St Kitts, shown in Samuel Baker's 1753 map as 'Richard Willson'in St Mary.

  1. Will of Hon. Richard Wilson Chief Justice of St Kitts proved 04/10/1760. He left his wife Elizabeth an annuity of 拢250 p.a., a lump-sum of 拢250 and the right to live in his house at Basseterre for her widowhood, with the use and service of 'such 6 of my negro slaves' as she should choose. He left 拢1000 to his son John, 拢1500 to his daughter Jane, 拢500 each to his three married daughters, 拢100 p.a. to his daughter Ann Greatheed and 拢300 each to his six grandchildren. He left 拢140 p.a. currency to his son Thomas Wilson. He entailed his [unspecified] estates, and left separately the enslaved people, to his son Richard Wilson for life and then to Richard's heirs.
