Jamaica merchant and slave-owner and father-in-law of Richard Oswald, who married Ramsay's only daughter Mary.

1. Alexander Ramsay of Kingston, merchant. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1738. Slave-ownership at probate: 101 of whom 51 were listed as male and 50 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £11599.41 Jamaican currency of which £3727 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £2.38 currency cash, £7516.29 currency debts and £53.4 currency plate.

2. An entry was filed in the Accounts Produce for 1741, "estate of Alexander Ramsay" for house and wharf rental, "Account of sundry rents received by the attorneys of Mary Ramsay and filed by Patrick Kerr of the parish of Kingston merchant attorney to Mary Ramsay."

3. The will of Alexander Ramsay was proved in Jamaica in 1737.
