Biography

Resident slave-owner on Jamaica, son of Christopher Senior (d. c. 1762), husband of Mary Lawrence and father of Christopher Senior Lawrence, Gilbert William and Sarah Jane Keith Senior. Inherited a share in Salt River estate in Westmoreland from his great-uncle William Dorrill. Owner of Lancet Hall in St Ann at the time of his death c. 1778.

  1. Gilbert Senior contributed 拢20 to the University of Pennsylvania following Dr John Morgan's fundraising tour of the West Indies in 1772-1773.

  2. Gilbert Sensor [sic - Senior] of St Ann, planter. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1780. Slave-ownership at probate: 21 of whom 16 were listed as male and 5 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: 拢2344 Jamaican currency of which 拢1920 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included 拢0 currency cash, 拢0 currency debts and 拢20 currency plate.
