Biography

Son of John Blagrove the elder and father of John Blagrove the younger (both of whom q.v.). Thomas Blagrove's widow Elizabeth married William Witter in Marylebone in 1761: her will 'of London but late of the island of Jamaica' was proved 20/05/1776.

Williams and Blagrove were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owners of 2955 acres of land in St Ann; note it's not clear if this Blagrove is John Blagrove the elder or Thomas Blagrove, or perhaps a different family member.

Thomas Blagrove of Hanover, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1756. Slave-ownership at probate: 1053 of whom 551 were listed as male and 502 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: 拢94358.43 Jamaican currency of which 拢48459 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included 拢0 currency cash, 拢33323.54 currency debts and 拢225.5 currency plate.
