Son of George Ellis and Ann Ellis (nee Beckford) (q.v.), the sister of Alderman William Beckford (q.v). Inherited Orange Hill in St Mary Jamaica.

1. Ellis, William (Beckford) s. of George of Isle of Jamaica arm. CHRIST CHURCH, matriculated 20/03/1753 aged 19; member of Assembly Jamaica 1756-64, buried at St Katherine [sic] Jamaica 16/12/1764. See Fosters Peerage B. HOWARD DE WALDEN.

2. Edmund Goldegay, planter of St Mary, stated in his will that his executor Angus Campbell was to give preference to Ellis when leasing out enslaved people from Goldegay's estate.

3. William Be. Ellis of St Mary, Esquire. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1766. Slave-ownership at probate: 285 of whom 143 were listed as male and 142 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £16399.26 Jamaican currency of which £11267 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £0 currency plate.
