Biography

  1. John Moseley McCaw, son of Patrick and Elizabeth McCaw, was born Feb 28 and baptised July 6 1771.

  2. John Moseley McCaw married Mary Banks McCaw, who by 1820 became ‘natural Guardian to her children David McCaw, Edward McCaw, Mary Ann Munro, formerly Mary Ann McCaw, and Frances Mosely McCaw’; with Charles McDermott and John Kelly signing.

  3. On 7 Dec 1796 in St Catherine, Jamaica, was baptised Eliza (b.4 July 1796), daughter of John Moseley McCaw and Mary Bankes. Eliza McCaw, daughter of John Mosley McCaw, Jamaica, aged 15; appeared on a memorial in St. Michael's, the old parish churchyard, of Dumfries.

  4. John Mosely McCaw was a defendant in a Chancery case in 1814 (and probably 1811), with several including Charles McDermott.

  5. In 1818, John Mosely McCaw had caveats entered against him by Thomas Addison, George Fletcher Coward, and his wife, Mary Banks McCaw.

  6. On 2 Oct 1815 at Edinburgh, William Munro Esq of the royal regiment of artillery, [married] Mary Ann, eldest daughter of John Mosley McCaw Esq of Mosley Hall, St Ann’s, Island of Jamaica.
