Eldest son of Philip Clarke, inherited the baronetcy from his cousin Sir Simon Clarke 5th Bart. in 1736.

Along with Lieutenant Robert Arnott, Sir Simon Clarke 5th Bart was convicted at the Lent assizes of 1730 of highway robbery. He was sentenced to be transported to Jamaica. Sir Simon Clarke 5th Bart died in 1736 without issue.

Thistlewood noted on the death of his son Sir Simon Clarke 7th bart. in 1777 that he [the 7th bart.] was said to be worth upwards of half a million pounds.

His will hasn't been located but his son Sir Simon Clarke 7th Bart. left £2000 each to Simon Fleming Begg, John Begg and Mary Begg on condition that they relinquish any claim on Warwick Castle and Johann de Bolas estates by virtue of the will of their late grandfather the 6th Bart.

Sir Simon Clarke was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 9 acres of land in St Catherine, 2030 acres in St Mary, 36 acres in St Dorothy and 519 acres in St John, total 2594 acres.
