Of Marylebone in London, brother of Job Ede (q.v.) and almost certainly the London West India merchant, who was a partner in Bond and Pearse (q.v.) until 1833.

The will of John Ede of Marylebone proved 11/11/1840 identifies his wife as Philadelphia and his brother as Job Ede of Clayfield, and details legacies to his childen including an annuity of 拢300 p.a. to his son John William Ede, 拢100 p.a. to each of his daughters Louisa, Charlotte, Harriet and Frances and 拢6000 to be placed in trust for his daughter Philadelphia, wife of Benjamin Oliveira.
John and Job Ede's sister Charlotte (1784-1875) formerly of Ickenham and then of Hillingdon died leaving 拢180,000.
