Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø Laws moot team win University of Leicester Medical Law Mooting Competition

James Witherspoon and Sapan Maini-Thompson won first place at the seventh annual University of Leicester Medical Law Mooting Competition, which focuses on topics surrounding medical law.
Last December, a team from the won the annual . James Witherspoon (a final year LLB student) and Sapan Maini-Thompson (an LLM student) grappled with a problem concerning NHS waiting times – specifically, whether there was a case of medical negligence regarding an A&E patient who did not receive immediate medical attention.
After five rounds, the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø team drew in the Finals with Northumbria University – having previously lost to them in the first round. Over twenty university teams participated.
The Final was judged by Mr Justice Green – an appointed Queen’s Counsel and High Court judge who is also an alumnus of the University of Leicester. The competition was sponsored by 1 Crown Office Row and Lime Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence.
On their train journey home, the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖÐÌØÍø team continued their conversation with Mr Justice Green on matters related to law and beyond.
Congratulations to James and Sapan on their victory - they each won £100 and a £50 book voucher as recognition of their success.
